Preveza → Meganisi
First day out of Cleopatra Marina — the full-service base on the Preveza side of the Ambracian Gulf — and the run south takes you through the Lefkas Canal on the second hour. The canal swing-bridge gates the start of every charter week here; the 09:00 lift is the standard target, and the waiting basin holds 30+ boats in season. Once through, the SW thermal builds along the inside of Lefkas's east coast and you arrive at Meganisi mid-afternoon. The island sits across the channel from Nydri, packs three sheltered bays into a coastline you can drive round in an hour, and gives you the choice of how social you want the first night to be. Atheni Bay is the quietest — narrow inlet, one restaurant-mooring taverna (Niagas), and a path up to Spartochori village on the cliffs above. Vathy on the eastern side has the small marina and the busier quay. Papanikolis Cave on the western tip is the 10-minute dinghy tour.
Things to do
Snorkel inside the WWII Papanikolis Cave
Climb the cliff staircase to Spartochori
Anchor for a long swim in Atherinos Bay
Grilled octopus on the Vathy quay
Sundowner above the port at Errikos
Mooring tip
Restaurant moorings in Vathy, Atheni and Spilia bays — pay for dinner, the buoy comes free. Vathy small marina (lazy lines, fee) is the formal alternative. Holding good on 4–8 m sand across the island; bombproof in N–NW.
