Athens (Alimos, Lavrion, Olympic Marina) is the natural starting point for a Saronic one-week loop or a longer Cyclades passage. The Saronic option keeps you in protected water; the Cyclades adds 8–10 hour open passages and stronger summer wind.

Greek season runs from mid-April to October, with the Meltemi peaking July–August in the open Aegean. If you want flat-water sailing in high summer, stay south in the Saronic; if you want long-tack downwind sailing, head into the Cyclades.

Athens has the broadest fleet in Greece — sailboats, catamarans, motor yachts and luxury crewed yachts. Most newer catamarans launch from Athens before being deployed to Lefkas or Skiathos for the season.
