Split is the busiest charter base in Croatia. Most yachts leave the marina (ACI Split, Marina Kaštela, Marina Trogir) on Saturday afternoon, head south to Šolta for the first overnight, then loop through Brač, Hvar, Vis and the Pakleni islands across the week. Distances are short — three to five hours of sailing per day — which makes Split a good fit for families and first-time bareboat charters.

Book six to nine months out for July/August departures — the Split fleet is fully reserved by mid-spring most years. June and September are easier to secure, calmer at anchor and noticeably cheaper. Saturday-to-Saturday is the standard period; a handful of agencies offer Wednesday-start one-way runs to Dubrovnik.

Split has the broadest fleet in Croatia — bareboat catamarans, sailboats, motor yachts and crewed luxury yachts all leave from the same group of marinas. Cabin charters on shared catamarans are also available out of Split for solo travellers and couples.
