Why Choose the Ionian Sea for Your Yacht Charter?
Gentle Sailing Conditions for All Skill Levels
The Ionian’s calm winds and protected bays make it ideal for beginners. Meltemi winds rarely disrupt summer voyages, unlike the Aegean. For comparison, explore the differences between bareboat and crewed charters to match your expertise.
A Mosaic of Mythical Islands
Discover seven main islands and countless islets, each with unique character. Corfu’s UNESCO-listed Old Town contrasts with Kefalonia’s wild Melissani Cave. Our top Greek islands guide highlights must-see stops.
Rich Cultural & Culinary Heritage
Savor authentic Greek cuisine at waterfront tavernas and explore Venetian fortresses. The Ionians blend Italian, French, and Greek influences seamlessly.
A 7-day charter for a 40ft yacht ranges from €3,000–€8,000 depending on season and model. Use our Croatia vs Greece cost comparison to benchmark prices. Tip: Mid-June offers 20% savings vs July rates.
Hidden Fees to Watch For
Mooring fees: €50–€150/night in hotspots like Fiskardo
Greek law requires all charters to carry life jackets, flares, and a first-aid kit. Verify your yacht meets standards using our charter documentation checklist. Tip: Photograph safety equipment during your check-in inspection.

Do I need a sailing license?
For most bareboat charters in the Mediterranean you need a recognised skipper certificate (RYA Day Skipper, ICC, or equivalent) plus a VHF licence. If you don’t hold one, we book a professional skipper alongside the boat for the week.
What’s included in the price?
The base charter fee covers the boat, standard equipment, insurance, and final cleaning fee in most cases. Extras such as fuel, port fees, transit log, tourist tax and skipper service are billed separately and explained in the booking summary.
How far in advance should I book?
For peak weeks (mid-July to late August) we recommend booking 6–9 months ahead to lock in the boat and the early-bird discount. Shoulder seasons (May, June, September) usually have availability up to a month before departure.
