Mykonos sits in the middle of the Cyclades — Delos, Paros, Naxos and Ios are all within a single sailing day. Mykonos new port has a small charter fleet, with most yachts cruising up from Athens to start a one-way week.
Cyclades in July–August means strong Meltemi (often 25+ knots from the north). It's spectacular sailing for experienced crews, demanding for first-timers — consider a skipper. June and late September are calmer and warmer-feeling because anchorages are less crowded.
Catamarans and motor yachts dominate the Mykonos fleet. Bareboat sailing yachts are usually picked up in Athens and dropped in Mykonos for a one-way week.
